I'm pretty sure there aren't any vegan options I've been there a lot.
No. It's typical tex mex but excellent food. Try the quesadillas..... Amazing.
Great food, prices, and service.
Some of the other reviews we had seen pegged the outside quite well. It is a house converted into a restaurant, on a residential street. However after being in business for 41 years, I think they're doing something right. We came for my wife's birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. TripAdvisor gave it one dollar sign, and I don't think that's exactly accurate. Two adult males into children's meals with water and tea was $40.However the portions were large and the food was really good. The restaurant was clean, quaint, and filled with locals. Wee would definitely eat here again.
La Casita- Chips & Salsa are free and so is the water. When I come I get the deluxe chicken nachos or the green chicken enchilada plate. The food is good, I like it! Come by and give it a try at least once. 😊
Good food.No wait.(at least not tonight)Staff checking on me several times without being creepy or annoying.
Very great food! Friendly staff and Lindsey was very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended! A+++++++
Awesome and straight forward Mexican food similar more to New Mexican than most of what you find in Texas. The pork chile verde is killer.
I remember this being THE PLACE for Mexican food when I was in college. I even took a date there once or twice. :) Fast Forward 20 years and they are one of the few remaining businesses in town. They don't take Credit Cards. They will take checks. Bring Cash.My personal favorites are:Deluxe Nachos - Beans, Cheese, Taco Meat, Lettuce, Tomato, Guacamole, and Sour Cream. Don't forget the Jalapenos.Chicken Nachos - Same as above but with chicken instead of Taco Meat.Chicken Flautas - Chicken Taquitos with Rice, Beans and Salad. The kid orders Chicken Nuggets and usually gets the little Dinosaur-shaped nuggets and krinkle-cut fried.Best Advice is to get there and wait for a table. They will accommodate larger parties if they have room. Tea and Water are always best.If you don't want to wait for a table, try one of the other places in town.
New Mexican restaurant. My wife and I both enjoyed the food. Extensive menu. Lot's to order from. Definitely worth a try. We'll be back.
Love the green chili enchilada plate all mixed up with rice and beans! Down home Mexican cookin, yummy!
Greasy, but tasty. Don't forget to bring cash! They don't accept credit cards. You can't eat inside, so we ordered our dinner to go. It didn't take long.
No frills Mexican food. Bring cash. No CCs accepted.
I would give La Casitas 10 stars, if possible! The food is AMAZING!!! The staff is very friendly!! Seriously, if you're in Alpine, you have to eat here!!!! This was our first of MANY visits to this great place!!!!
Amazing homemade food and one of the few restaurants that doesn't close early. Had a huge chicken taco salad and some of the best chili con queso.
Very, very delicious!!!! Got to try the Mexican plate, very filling. Nice atmosphere very good service....
Good groceries , Ice Tea was very good , salsa needs spiced up more. great service and ambiance. will return.
Super friendly service. And delicious food. Maybe a little on the greasy side for my taste but it was delicious. The enchiladas had probably the best corn tortillas I've had.
Great food
Excellent food and service. I would give 5 stars, but they only take cash, so if you walk in with only a credit or debit card, you're out of luck
This place is a hidden gem. It's literally a house converted into a Mexican restaurant. The food is inexpensive and tasty. It's a local hotspot.
My favorite place to dine, enchiladas montadas my favorite. Great service
It is a good place for tex-mex food. Small, cozy a little tight space. Testy food and standard service. Location is bit odd, you have to get away from main road to reach it.
I grew up eating at this place. It's still turning out great food & that kind of consistency is hard to come by. It's one of the few places from home we can all brag about & look fwd to returning to..."like buddah😉." Thanks!
Coming from South Texas I was skeptical of Mexican up in Alpine but La Casita did not disappoint. Their Mexican plate was delicious and an ice cold beer did just the trick. Like most of the others say don't forget to have cash on hand.
Service was okay, food was okay. Definitely nothing to write home about. Maybe the meat options are better... There definitely weren't a lot of veggie options.
I remember when this place was built. I was raised in Alpine. Never, ever, has La Casita failed me in their service. Delicious every time. Very friendly staff....
Cash only! I had Quesadillas which came with guacamole on the side. They were both Very very good. Reasonably priced.
Really good food. Nice and cozy. Definitely recommend
This place was great. Got the green chicken enchiladas with an egg on top and chicken fried steak- both were fantastic.
This was in a very off the road old neighborhood and quite authentic which can be bland to those spoiled by the big fancy places that salt and season everything. We enjoyed the experience. Many don't realize the beans and food can taste bland until you add some heat into your food with the sauce. Tortilla chips come out cold, never heated but that's how you eat them at home, right? The salsa was tasty but just a smooth salsa with no chunky bits of onion, tomato nor cilantro but did taste good. No Margaritas served here either. No alcohol. It was tiny but quaint. We were here just after Christmas and it had a warm glow from the decorated Christmas tree and decorations.
Very good food! Love little dives...and this one did not disappoint!
It was SO DELICIOUS!!! I never eat refried beans and I ate all of them. My daughter even liked the salsa and she won't touch it anywhere else. EXCELLENT!!!
The food was bland and uninteresting. But it was cheap, and the portions were generous. Note that they don't take credit cards.
Had half order if nachos supreme. Should have taken pic. Looked and taste great. Couldn't finish it all.
Hidden gem in Alpine. Reasonable price, great portion and tasty. Feel like eating in my grandma's kitchen.
This has been a family favorite of mine for many years and I'm not sure if it is do to the pandemic and all but there wasn't a single thing they made for us that even resembled a true La Casita dinner. I hope they are able to save the restaurant because if this is the way they are going to make green chicken enchiladas for now on, then I guess I'll order McDonald's. when I hear La Casita i think of real Mexican food and that Is far from what I received. Prayers for this Alpine treasure
Always amazing food! Their guac is to die for! Amazing prices and their tacos Plata's with enchilada sauce is my *favorite meal to enjoy with friends!
Our first visit, Friday Night. Great service, very large menu with good prices. Lots of food regardless of which dish you order. We will be back.
Long wait, so many locals waiting to get in. Food was good and inexpensive. Casual. Worth the wait for an authentic local spot. We all had different dishes and each was good.
CASH ONLY. Luckily we saw the reviews ahead of time and stopped beforehand. We were visiting big bend and noticed several places in several of nearby towns are cash only. Best to keep cash on hand. Great service and definitely a locals spot. We were seated next to some ranchers / cowboys who must’ve been on lunch because they came in with their spurs on. As for the food, very good. The guacamole was well seasoned.. in fact everything was. I ordered the Santa Fe? Quesadilla without mushrooms and it was very good. My husband has the chicken enchiladas and enjoyed his as well. Only knocked one star because the tea tasted a bit old and the chips were somewhat stale. The food was great though!
Excellent food, good service. Highly recommend it.
Oh please avoid this place like the plague... The food is terrible and the service is the absolute worst I have ever received in my life. Treated us like we were not human or from around these parts. If you are local I promise only one thing... If I ever have a chance to open a restaurant in this one horse town I hope you will realize how bad this fake Mexican food is when you taste the real thing at my place. These people put the can in Mexican because I assure you that very few ingredients were used that didn't come from there. Run forest run far far away from here...
Kind of a hole in the wall place, but the food is nothing short of excellent. I had the Mexican plate and the wife had the Mexican steak. Both were massive and we left stuffed.
DELICIOUS!! We will definitely eat there again!
Absolutely delicious
If you're in the West Texas Basin Permian hungry & it's late, this is the place to head and have your home cooked "Tex-Mex" food.Located off the beaten path you'll get big plates of food and friendly service.La Casita en Alpine, Texas.
I hate being lied to. Especially by people I have to pay money to. After ordering queso, we were told by our server that all the chips were gone--only crumbs left. Yet we watched tables who were seated after us be served chips (even seconds). If lying wasn't bad enough, the food was also trash. Watery, flavorless enchiladas. I've had better Mexican food at Taco Bell.
Good place excellent service!
Authentic Mexican food, great service at a economical price.
Great fajitas and guacamole. Pretty inexpensive too. They only trade in cash, no credit cards so know that before going. Looks like mainly locals eating there and pretty busy so you know the food is good.
